Sorry for the delay with this month’s blog – honestly, I have no idea where the time goes!
July Highlights
The Clare Prior Craft Fair on July 13th and 14th is one of my absolute favourite events of the year! After all that rain in June, I just knew the sun would make an appearance, and I was right—it always shines on that weekend! The fair is held in such a beautiful spot, and the volunteers are incredibly helpful. Everything is so well organized.
This year was extra special because I got to bring my potter’s wheel and do some demonstrations. It was wonderful to chat and create pottery, even though having over 15 people watching me was a bit nerve-wracking. Many of my beloved facepots found new homes, and my new pieces were well received. I also did a cheeky little giveaway just for the marketgoers. A lovely lady from Haverhill was thrilled to have won a mug, a plant, and a plant pot.
I just had my first few lessons with my new venture, Mud Club, and it’s been amazing! We’ve created so many lovely items, and everyone is having a blast experimenting with all the different types of clay I have available.
I’ve also put together some beautiful kits for Mud Club, and they’ve been a hit! I’m considering offering them online for purchase. What do you think? Let me know your thoughts! 😊
What’s to come in August
We’re in the first week of August, and Mud Club is continuing Weeks 4 and 5 have been all about using the potter’s wheel in my own studio. It’s been busy, but I’ve had an absolutely wonderful time. I love seeing everyone’s happy smiles when a magnificent pot appears in front of them. I’m so proud of my students’ progress. They’ve also been experimenting with crank, porcelain and porcelain paper clay, which has been really exciting.
I got pretty mucky with some black clay, which was an absolute delight to throw with. Keep an eye out for the finished results once they’ve been fired and glazed!
This weekend, Potfest is taking place at Haughley Park near Stowmarket in Suffolk. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful event nearby. I will definitely be attending. I enjoy chatting with fellow potters it’s an inspiration and such a diverse range of work.
Although I don’t have any markets scheduled this month, I need to start preparing for the upcoming Christmas season. With numerous Christmas markets lined up this year, it’s time to get busy!
Take care
